Similar birds seen by me at Basai at the beginning of migration season.... appears to me as Molting individuals.

We too got a couple of these Ruffs in Jamnagar last December, and I understood from the chain of comments then from experts, that those were male Ruffs moulting.

Rajneesh there were  thousands of Ruffs there  but these 2 were different. As far as I understand  Environmental Factors uni- formally stimulates Internal Factors ( Endocrine System+ Hypothalamus) I am of the opinion for Leucism  and variation in the  plumage coloration and that too like these 2 specimens which is not uniform in deposition of melanin and carotinoids  itself is self explanatory of leucism with my little knowledge of  genetics .I have been observing these birds from 2010 Feb -March till today Feb 2014  on every migration for this particular reason. Best Wishes SP

This seems to be another example for Ruffs discussed in separate threads earlier. These seem to be birds in molt or just a cause of varied plumage and not leucism
