[BirdPhotoIndia] The Malabar in Orissa

Record shot of a male Malabar Trogon from Kuldiha WLS near Balasore , NE Odisha, 22nd, Feb, 2014

The Malabar Trogon is a misnomer, for though it brings to mind the Western Ghats, it is widely distributed all over Orissa. It is reported from there much less often (all but one image on OBI is from Western Ghats) - but that's just because fewer people are birding there. Most serious birding trips to one of Orissa’s forests end up with this being ticked. I saw it thrice in the last two months at Kuldiha, though only once did I manage to get this record shot of the male. All this makes me think that it is no less common in northern part of Eastern Ghats than in the Western.

An annoying twig has been cloned out in PP.
