 The last Oriental Pied Hornbill was seen on the Ridge nearly 40 years ago so its even rarer! You mention Great Pied Hornbill, is that an error for Oriental Pied as the Great Hornbill has never been recorded from the Delhi area.

It seems to me a great pity if records like these are published on Facebook or in national newspapers but not on the bird sites where they can be certain of being picked up and noted. Especially as the observers are themselves active birders. Can the Aravalli scientists at least be persuaded to publish on the Delhibird site? It would be good to know what other, less rare species they are seeing there. Where exactly is it? Near Sanjay Van?

Bill All the 3 birds have been sighted and photographed by 'Yasir Arafat' & Dr. M.Shah Hussain ,scientist incharge Aravali biodiversity park,under 'Center for Education & Management of Degraded Ecosystem' Delhi University.They are the same people who earlier reported the presence of 'Indian Black Eagle' in 2005-6 which was later photographed and confirmed by KB Singh from the same area.Pankaj Gupta also photographed the same from Mangar forest which I sent to you as well.
KB also reported White bellied Minivet from Asola and same has been photographed by Yasir from Aravali.Great Pied Hornbill was sighted in the same park and photographed by Yasir which was published in TOI ,Delhi Edition somewhere in June 2013. Grey Winged Black bird was sighted twice and Yasir can't make mistake in its id as he belongs to NANITAL ( Utterakhand) and has been seeing the bird from his childhood.( This is what he told me just now over phone) I have requested them to send the pics as they are not the member of Delhi Bird and report sightings directly to MoEF.
