Subject: [OBPix] Cachar Wedge-billed Babbler 1
Species: CacharWedge-billed Babbler – Sphenocichla roberti - Adult
Date: 21stMarch 2014.
Location:On the way to Mayodhia Pass, Mishmi Hills, Arunachal Pradesh. India
Coordinates:28.2231°N 95.8346°E. Altitude: 1431 Masl.
Habitat :Ravines of dense Broad-leaved Forest
Status:Near Threatened.
Remarks: Thesecharmers moved deftly in the robust foliage of verdurous ravines givingfleeting glimpses only, through the compact undergrowth. Their loud and melodic(two note and four note) song dominated the delectable morning chorus of MishmiHills. Though territorial, they were very skittish to our presence, bar this oneconfiding bird that was in the open for a while, displaying his remarkable, lanceolatedwhite-edged feathers on throat and breast. Perhaps this is the best place toget this skulker between 1400 M to 1650 M.
