[BirdPhotoIndia] White-rumped Snowfinch

Dear friends,

This is probably the first photographic documentation (correct me if I am mistaken) of the White-rumped Snowfinch Pyrgilauda taczanowskii within the Indian limits. During my trip to North Sikkim in July-August'2014 I was fortunate to find this bird when it flew out of Pika burrows. I have included the burrow in the photograph to give an idea of its habitat.

Species: White-rumped Snowfinch Pyrgilauda taczanowskii  Adultumilis
Date: 30 July 2014
Location: North Sikkim, 16000 ft.
Habitat: Open steppe, Trans-Himalaya
Behaviour: Was probably inside the Pika burrows and flew out on approach, though it did not venture too far from it.
