Nest No. 2 that we had located on 24th August 2014 in Village Pond at Dhanauri Khurd, Greater Noida,
U.P., India (about 50 Kms SSE of Delhi).
The Sarus was still on Nest on 20th and on 22nd Morning they were not there on the Nest.
Village Folks informed that there were two chicks that morning and both followed the parents
in to the adjoining fields. We could not locate but were happy at the glad tidings.
On 9th October, 2014 on my way to the roosting place of these 100+ Sarus Flock, I ran in to
this chick and the parents in the village pond. One Sarus was on nest and the other
feeding followed by the chick.
There was no sign of the second chick - may have been lost to the 'sibling rivalry' that
we had witnessed on Nest No. 4.
A back-lit image, just for the record. May be I would get to photograph them in the early
morning light next week.
This is the fourth chick that we have seen this season.
Cheers.
