The water of the dam ihas much blueish hue. Locally the dam is known
as 'Nil Nirjane' in Bengali which paossibly can be translated as
'Lonely blue waters'. Unfortunately it is also an popular local
picnic spot.
There were around 12000 waterbirds in the lake on that day - all waterfowlls.
