Bakreshwar Dam, Birbhum, West Bengal

This is a large and deep waterbody, with rather unreal looking blue water. It is possibly the largest such waterbody in southern West Bengal hosting the largest number of wintering waterfowl. From what we saw, our estimate was 12,000 waterfowl at a minimum, but there could easily be more. Most noticeable among them was a congregation of Bar-headed Geese, numbering at least a thousand, which is the largest that I have heard of from these parts.
