The maps of the area Classic farms and pallikarnai Marsh


A family holiday planned to Chennai, with a short visit to bangalore followed by a visit to Palacode near 

Hogenakkal Falls in TN. 

On 20 Jan the first visit to Classic farms which is just ahead of the SHOLINGANALLUR crossing or the ECR link road. The Marsh land falls between the ECR link road and the Classic farms located south of the marsh. A numaber of painted Storks and the Gull billed terns with the egret Little, Intermediate and large seen in large numbers in the marsh. 
Moving south on the new roads in the farm a number of birds were seen

Then we moved on to the ECR link road. Turned left on to a dirt road under construction-a Km down the road.

Finally turned to the Pallikarnai Marsh

Coming from the South (classic Farms) you turn right on to the road passing through the Marsh. Just short of the Toll plaza you get to see the waders large flock a little distance away. 
Stints, Plovers, Sandpiper wood etc
Some migrtory ducks.
More than 200 grey headed lapwing. Stilts, Swallows and flocks of tern flying over the marsh
Fulvous Whistling Duck
Spotbilled Pelicans


More reports on the Birding again later in the week and the visit to Pulicat lake and Palacode will follow
