There was a detailed thread on the Indian Birds facebook group where several birders pointed out that those features were unreliable. I've lost the link to that thread and there isn't a "reference" as such.

What I do have though are pics of the birds we saw at Surajpur. First two photos are of the same individual. See how the gape extends to the rear of the eye. We thought it was ISE on the field but later it got confirmed as a GSE.

Third pic is a definite GSE. Notice how the number of "fingers" on the two wings is different. It goes to show that this feature cannot be depended upon. The definition of a "finger" itself is a little ambiguous.

You may still be right about the wings though.
