(delhibirdpix) White-browed laughing thrush

While we were travelling from Chizami to Pungro, after crossing Jessami, we were shown a bird by our driver on our left and by the time we could stop our vehicle and see it properly, we had gone  about 100 feet ahead of the location where he had seen it. However some one from our party noted a bird on a stone slab on our right about 50 feet away giving our very clear views on a clear day at about 4 pm. When viewed through our binoc it turned out to be WBLT. There was an air of excitement about in the vehicle. We could not move out of our car. The Thrush came down on the road spent a few seconds and then again climbed on top of the stone slab and disappeared after sometime into the bush below.

Since we were all sitting in our vehicle only one Mr Santosh Fernandez who was sitting next to the window behind the driver got excellent photos. While we all had to shoot it through the front wind screen. This picture of the rare bird is through the front wind screen. At least we could get the record shot. After it disappeared we waited for 15 minutes for it to come out again. But we just couldn't see it again.

While we were waiting for it to show itself again Mr Shiva from Karkala, who really has one of the keenest eyesight in our group, spotted another bird sitting on a branch of a tree about 60 away. Thinking it to be WBLT he clicked it pictures on his highly top end Nikon camera with 600 mm Nikon lens. When we saw the picture we realised that he had just clicked Moustached Laughing Thrush. he got excellent pictures of the bird. None of us could get pictures of this bird as it flew away in no time.

In a span of 20 minutes we managed to see two most rare birds. At times one spends unsuccessfully a day or two to see a bird and at other times one comes across a bird that one can only dream of and that too most unexpectedly. Birdwatching is indeed a great hobby and keeps one one's toes , literally and figuratively, alright at all times.

Here is the photo of WBLT through the windscreen,
