Today morning at my campus water point, there was this Scaly-breasted Munia. I do not recall having seen this species in Jaipur or its outskirts.A single, bedraggled bird who spent a lot of time drinking and bathing. Initially it appeared to be weak and unable to fly too well. It rested for a while in the bushes nearby and ultimately flew off to perch on a branch high above.
The bird had underparts that appeared more yellow than normal. I am thinking this is an escapee and was dyed in some colour..
