Good to be back in action after a lay-off for a month.
First choice to visit. of course, had to be Dhanauri Kalan and Parsaul
Wetlands to see the 'new crop of Sarus Chicks' that must have hatched
from a total of 9 know Nests of Sarus who began the season a little early
as compared to last year.
Though did see the Sarus, were not fortunate enough to see the 'crop'
- they had moved or the grass in the Wetland was way to high for the
young Chicks to be visible.
Usual birds seen at Parsaul and Dhanauri. But, the high light was the sighting
of chicks of Pheasant-Tailed Jacanas - three just hatched perhaps or a few days
old, at least three that were a few weeks old and one Sub-adult.
See the young ones in the video link below
As usual at Dhanauri drove in to a ditch and had to be pulled out by a tractor - thanks
to WingCo who took a bike ride and then a tractor ride to pull us out of the mess.
Beware, stay on the main road as far as possible - any off tracking could lead to
problems as the grass is high and the water is hidden and we know there are
smaller, deeps pond every where in the Wetland and many deep depressions.
Apologies WingCo, once again.
Any way enjoy the CHICK.
Cheers.
