(delhibirdpix) Portrait # 076 - The Commoners - # 44.150 - Sarus Crane (Grus antigone) - 2015-187

This year had been good for Breeding of Sarus - we know now of 10 Nests at
the last year's find of Dhanauri-Parsaul as a great Birding Area.  10 Nest out
of a population of 100+ is good birth rate.

Found this proud parent - perhaps the most frame filling shot for a Portrait.
Full Frame just cropped a bit from side for composition. (THE OTHER SIDE NOW)

And, then as is the quest of a Birder, looked for the 'family' but did not succeed
as they all went in the Paddy Fields for feeding and in the end leaving me with
a hair-line fracture as i stepped into a small ditch.  Part of the game.  Second Birding
Injury unlike the Jalopy that I keep driving in to ditches, pot-holes, drains, swamps
and so on at regular intervals.  (Safari has not lived up to is ad of 'Create Your Own Road'

Anyway, birding was good.  Dhanauri did have a few hundred migrants (not from Syria)
but many more at what is possibly a 'temporary' Wetland at 28° 16' 49" N and 77° 34' 53 E.
Got the season's first Teals, Shovelers and Terns.

Enjoy.
