[BirdPhotoIndia] Ultramarine

Hi,
A record shot of an Ultramarine Flycatcher ( a lifer for me :-) ) taken at Gairibas on 6th of April'10. When all of my friends were inside our Trekkers' Hut, busy packing and loading our luggages in our jeep , as usual, I still could not leave that beautiful forest and for the last few minutes I was etching whatever I could see in my mind. Well aware of the snubbings that was waiting for me from my friends for making delays, I was walking hurriedly a few steps and then waiting for two minutes. The forest was so green, the rhododendrons so vibrant in colour, the air was so crisp and full of sweet bird calls , I felt it impossible to leave that place abruptly by just shunning all my senses and move fast, fast looking only at my steps. When I almost ( Oh! My God! Just now a Purple-rumped Sunbird male in full breeding plumage is calling excitedly , sitting on the handle of my cane chair in my balcony! What a sight but how pathetically I missed a good chance to shoot it !  anyway..) reached my resthouse, suddenly I heard a very faint 'pik'.....'pik' sound following that I discovered this very beautiful bird. It was moving behind thick foliage but still I could see it clearly. I could not believe my eyes! The colour of the bird was straight from an artist's palette! It was a very lovely sight and with this last reward in my bag,at last,I reached my rest house.
As a footnote, I must tell you, all my good friends were only too happy to know about my sighting and in that euphoria, completely forgot to shout at me !
Cheers!
