Hi
visited CKBS today at around 10am in search of the passage migrants and summer visitors. The heat was just unbearable, and the high humidity worsened the condition. But it was an enriching experience to do birding, oding (odonate-ing) and butterfly-ing in the company of Mr.Subhankar Patra and few other enthusiastic members of Prakriti Samsad (whom I met there). We discussed lots of things about birds of Bengal, and shared our nice birding experiences....
Subhankar da was very eager to see the Jerdon's Leafbird (Chloropsis cochinchinensis jerdonii)- a lovely addition to the checklist of CKBS. But we cudnt find this species today inspite of our long wait near the office. But a pair of Paradise Flycatchers - rufous male and female made our day. This is perhaps the first Paradise Flycatcher sighting of this year. (I may be wrong)
Sharing shots of the rufous-phase of the male Paradise Flycatcher, and a female Streak-throated Woodpecker...spotted at CKBS today.
regards
Shantanu.
