(delhibirdpix) Lesser Whistling Ducks

In the MIT Campus, Manipal, Karnataka (India)

Camera: Canon SX10 IS

Notes: The sewage ponds, along with the oxidation ponds used by the college for waste management are used by these ducks, a resident flock of about 70-80 birds for everything they do :-) The ponds often end up overflowing after some rain (as we have received in the past couple of weeks) and that has made a perpetual marshy area with a good number of trees too where I suspect these guys breed - if they do (I had seen ducklings last year in early July). They keep moving, in case of disturbance, between this region and a man-made lake that is there nearby.

Cheers,
Ramit Singal
