Ever since I saw some fine images of Debopratim Saha of this big and beautiful bird, posted from " the outskirts of Mahananda WLS ", I have been intrigued and excited, wondering if I will ever find the place where it dwelt. After a few wild-goose-chase trips and misses even after being at the location, this time I got third-time-lucky.
So, here's how I saw the birds - a male and female Rufous-necked Hornbills in the first 10 -15 minutes of my arrival at the viewing point. Didn't know at the time that there would be magical moments to follow in the next one hour.
Latpanchor, north of Siliguri, West Bengal.
