(delhibirdpix) White-cheeked Nuthatch, Himachal Pradesh

Species: White-cheeked Nuthatch - Sitta leucopsis - Adult
Date: 11th Oct. 2012
Location: Rackcham WLS, Himachal Pradesh, (3500 m), India
Habitat: Conifers and Birch at tree-line.
Status: Least concern.
Remarks: Food at upper reaches of the park was scarce and birds few. It was strange for a wasp to be around at this time of the year, and our WCN displayed its prized catch in full glory. The species is a breading resident here and was found in a mixed hunting flock of Rufous-naped Tits (Periparus rufonuchalis) and visiting Goldcrests (Regulus regulus)

Regards,
Gunjan Arora
