[BirdPhotoIndia] Black-eared Shrike Babbler - male

The Black-eared Shrike Babbler(Pteruthius melanotis) is probably the most comical amongst the Pteruthius with its mannerisms and looks.
Interesting these birds with a double barreled 'last name' are it seems are neither. Currently bundled in the family Timaliidae, they are set to be moved to the new world family of Vireos (family Vireonidae) [ref Sushma Reddy, Joel Cracraft -
Old World Shrike-babblers belong with New World Vireos]
. An example of convergent evolution across new and old world species.
