Walking up behind the Tungnath temple, standing on a precipitious ledge overlooking colourful rhododendrons, and watching this absolute stunner appear from the undergrowth and lazily forage against the golden grass, felt surreal. There were two birds on Day1 evening. Next morning, at the base of the research centre, amidst the rhododendrons shrubs, there were three individuals and at the ridge of the mountain behind us, and beyond, another four.
