Bill, do have a look at these pics of Smoky as well. These were taken at the same place ie Basai on 22 December. The Yellow center to the throat is very clear.

Dusky Warbler never shows yellow on underparts and so that can be ruled out. By the way I believe I saw a Dusky Warbler in Sanjay Van on 21 December. I could not manage a photo but I saw the bird well through binocs.

I think it could be a Dusky Warbler which has been claimed for the Delhi area but never conclusively proven. Certainly there are reliable records further west than the very north eastern Smoky.

Today this warbler was seen feeding on the water hyacinth(*not eating it *) which was surrounded by Thypa grass. It has a di-syllables call...much weaker than the call of moustached or blyth's reed warbler.
