It all started on top of Gopalswamy hills, Bandipur where Supriya accidently flushed couple of quails and we started discussing that probably Quails are one of the most camouflaged birds. We started driving down the hill and stopped the car to photograph the white throated fantail flycatcher when Supriya saw something moving on the road. She started the car and slowly approached the 2 birds on the roadside and we were thrilled to see the Male painted bush quail performing the dance to attract the female !! It would spread it wings / feathers slightly and run close to the female and as usual the female would just run away from the approaching male [Seen in the attached photography. It was a treat to watch this display for couple of minutes and may be we could have been able to get more closer if not for another car on the road which distrubed the couple who jumped on to the wall and disappeared.
In short a great sighting of a rare bird... lifer all the way.
