(delhibirdpix) variable wheatear flight for feeding

rain was just stoped and bird was busy in feeding as full fresh food was there.

as per variable wheatear behaviour it was catching the insect and jumping little and then was perching in  little height on stone or small branches etc to check the insects.

(delhibirdpix) Indian Roller from Rajarhat today

Hi

visited Rajarhat marshes of Kolkata today morning with birders Mr.Debarshi Chakraborty, and his uncle Mr.Amitava Banerjee.

Our birding started with the chance sighting of an Indian Roller (rarely seen in Kolkata)...and ended with another surprise...the sighting of a male Pacific Golden Plover ( the first sighting of the species in Rajarhat)...Pic posted earlier.

(delhibirdpix) Pacific Golden Plover :Record sighting from Rajarhat.Kolkata

Hi

Today morning I went for birding to Rajarhat with birder friend Mr.Debarshi Chakraborty and his uncle Mr.Amitava Banerjee.

We were lucky enough to spot a solitary non-breeding male Pacific Golden Plover around 10am.

 

This is the first sighting of the Pacific Golden Plover in Rajarhat and possibly Kolkata area.

 

My special thanks to our birder uncle Mr.Amitava Banerjee for spotting this lovely bird, and my thanks to Mr.Sumit Sen for confirming the ID of the species....

[BirdPhotoIndia] Common Raven

Shimmering, glimmering, dazzling; the luster on this Common Raven (Corvus corax tibetanus) was absolutely blinding when seen through the viewfinder in the harsh afternoon sun.

This large bird, about the size of a Black Kite had the countenance of a bored kid at a grownups party; fidgeting, walking around and dozing very unlike Corvus who usually seem to have an 'agenda'.

All images loose detail when reduced to web size but a very painful reminder in this image as all iridescence represented on a black bird gets fitted into the palette of a jpeg.
