(delhibirdpix) The Commoners - # 38.01 - Black-Headed Ibis (Threskiornis melanocephalus)

This is a fairly wide-spread bird and possibly the most populated
amongst the three species of Ibis that we see around. It was
outnumbered by the Glossy this day but this one stood out for the pink
spot (correct description ?) on the back of its neck - something that
I have never seen before - as also for its bigger size compared to
other Black-Headed Ibis in the flock.

What exactly are these pink Spots ?
