Hi all
It was more of an elphantine experience rather than birding at Deepor Beel on April 3. Unlike other days, I reached the wetland at 4.30 am, only to be confronted by a herd of 22-odd jumbos, just emerged from mud bath and proceeding to the adjoining Rani reserved forest. The visibility was poor with dark clouds. Amid shouts and beating of drums by human crowd, at one time a makhana (tuskless male) came out of herd, and recklessly started chasing. For me I ran never so fast in my life, so fast that as if my lungs was about to come out of my mouth. After the air cooled following departure of the gaints, I resumed birding. Here's a blue-capped rockthrush I clicked
Cheers
Naresh
