(delhibirdpix) Bristled Grassbird Survey : Dhikala Grassland, Corbett National Park ; 14-16 June 2010

Attached herewith are the images of Bristled Grassbirds captured at Dhikala Grassland during the survey conducted from 14th to 16th June 2010.

Thanks to the conservation efforts of the CTR management, this year large areas where this species breeds have been left unburnt. As expected, it is breeding in big numbers along Sher Bhuji road & Car road areas of the grassland. During the survey more than 40 birds were sighted including a total of 31 singing males on the morning of 16th June. This should be the highest breeding population recorded in last half century, anywhere in the bird's distribution range. During the same period in 2007, 27 singing males were recorded.

Kind regards
Manoj Sharma
