Hi Anand,

Hope you're doing well and getting a lot of great photos while staying cool...!
It's been a bit hot here in NYC lately...for us anyway...90+ degress F!

Well, the Cornell eBird team has now released the world-wide version. As we discussed, they are looking for regional experts who can filter the incoming records to make sure they are accurate. A "vetter" could handle a small area like Delhi, or a larger region.

eBird is a very valuable, free tool for individual birders and also for researchers. The compiled data can be used to make decisions about conservation, ongoing research and many other valuable projects.

Of course the data is only as good as the "filters", to be sure that the reports sent in are accurate and in keeping with known status and distribution for an area.

For individual birders, eBird can be used to keep complete lists of sightings and regional and now world-wide life lists.

I've attached an article I wrote on eBird a couple of years ago for my Surfbirds column that was also printed in many regional Audubon Society newsletters.

Anyway, if you are personally interested for the Delhi area, and/or if you might know others from your extensive list serve experience, I'll put you in touch with the eBird team.
An individual who volunteers to do the filtering would have a password for their region and would check the incoming records to be sure they seem accurate.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,
Tom
