(delhibirdpix) KG MJ Wetland Palwal Sohna Rd-10 Jul 10 - II

One pair moved away a little distance from the group

Date : 10 Jul 10
Location : KG MJ Wetland Near Mandkola Village turn left, a Km
down a fork right and in the fields on the right. A small hillock on the
right is the land mark.
Camera/Lens : Nikon D300. Nikon 500mm F4, VR.
Common Name : Sarus Crane
Scientific Name : Grus antigone
Bird Family : GRUIFORMES: Gruidae
Remarks : A group of 8 foraging around joined by two flying
in. they landed in the group of 8. Subsequently two had their heads up and
trumpeted loudly. A sight we all enjoyed. As the loud call got over a short
dance was displayed. Latter a courtship dance with the male I assume was on
his knees begging as if to say "will you marry me" Something that is so
graceful that it would put a number of us on the loosing side.
We reluctantly left the group who were not bothered with our prsence and
moved on for more birding. Spotted 2 + 1 more Sarus on the trip
