(delhibirdpix) The Commoners - # 117.03 - Indian Pond Heron (Ardeola grayii) - 2010-221

Made another visit to find the Skimmers again - hoping that the water
level in the Barrage would have come up a bit with the closing of some
of the Gates and this might possibly drive the Skimmers nearer the
bund road.

Not to be. And the place was desolate - hardly any activity. Even
the ever present Commoners like Prinia, Munia, Weavers, Bulbuls,
Mynas, Crows and Doves were hard to come by. Two and a half hours
just did not produce what these used to. Some thing is wrong and the
Delhi Birders need to get together to discuss, fix on the problems and
find solutions and act to get results.

To mind mind, there is really no 'care and management' of the Park as
it should be. The most predominant problem appears to be the 'reeds'
which are not being managed at all.

Something needs to be done.

Just a small spark - Pond Herons were abundant. Here is something I
would title 'Reflections' - Reflections of a Reflection.

Cheers.
