Female - again after two years at Dadri Wetlands, 40 Kms S-E of Delhi,
India - more so since the habitat is almost gone.
The idea behind this morning's visit was to see if the wetland had
water following the reports of breech in the irrigation channel as
reported in the local newspaper on Sunday - the usurpers of the land
have longer reach and they managed to get the official to seal the
breech quickly. The area, which has a bit of water two weeks back, is
now dry. Hopefully, more rains come flooding the area.
When we heard the call and sighted the bird, it was exhilarating. It
posed and let us approach near enough for some good shots, a small
video and also displayed in flight. At least one pair, could be a
couple of pairs.
Here is what I think a male - would appreciate confirmation though.
Cheers,
