Indrojit Adak shares the 1st photographic record of a Chestnut-winged Cuckoo from the Kolkata area. The image was taken on 25th October this year. The only other well-documented record from the area, that I am aware of, is of a dead bird found on the roof of Kushal Mookherjee's house in south Kolkata many many years ago. Why a very rare (locally) bird chose to perish on the roof of an eminent birder's house remains an unsolved mystery, and is now a part of local birding folklore.
Congrats to Indrojit.
Cheers!
Sumit
