[BirdPhotoIndia] ID help please - possible finch

Saw this solitary bird perched high up on the top of a tree on the way to the Sangay Choeling Monastery in Pelling, Sikkim this October. I am wondering if it is some kind of a female finch but I am not sure which one. The bird stayed perched there for a very long time in exactly the same pose. The area is much like a forest periphery and there isn't much human habitation nearby, otherwise I would ignore it as a female Eurasian tree sparrow. The bird's behaviour was also not like that of a sparrow. 

Any help will be much appreciated.
