(delhibirdpix) The Migratory Waterfowl - # 4.01 - Gadwal (Anas strepera) - 2010-279

On waking up when you go out and look at the sky, the Moon foretells what a great day it is going to be.  So it was.

On perfect morning for birding - beautiful birds, beautiful light, beautiful weather and great company - you do tend to get the perfect experience.

Dadri is indeed rocking.  Though I cannot count beyond 27 and have no intention of iterating like a Consultant to arrive at the number of birds seen, I can Guestimate - upwards of something like 50000 both on ground and on in air.  A spectacle when they all take off to celebrate with the villagers around who fire shots in the air to celebrate weddings in the family (wedding season has begun).  Just as we approached the central point, gun shots went off in the distance and the birds took off from all sides - one flock, then another, then another, then another. No way to share the experience except words - stupendous sight.

Did not keep a count but nearly one hundred species including some new arrivals - Pochards, Common & Tufted, not seen in previous visits.

Here is a pair of Gadwals.
