It can get complicated with all the splits and different names.
As I understand, Forest Eagle Owl is quite different to the Eurasian and Indian Eagle-owls which can now be recognsed as different species.
I was surprised to hear that this bird I photographed was an Eurasian because it does not occur in this part of India (Harayana) if records are correct.
Its' pretty obviously an Indian Eagle Owl rather than Eurasian not just because of the strongly marked sides to the facial disc; here is another photo of the same bird ...
