[BirdPhotoIndia] Sri Lanka Endemics #11 Sri Lanka Junglefowl

After years of watching Junglefowl scampering away from you it was shocking (not just surprising) to find Sri Lanka Junglefowl (Gallus lafayetii) so tame. A couple at the lodge were constantly within 10 feet preventing any decent shot. We were elated when the next day in the jungle we saw a group on the path walking towards us. We froze and hoped that they dont scoot, but the group had different ideas. They actually seemed to pick up pace as they marched towards us. And when they got to us, started scratching the ground around us! Here I was trying to get some distance between myself and the junglefowl...
The challenge finally boiled down (apart from the ever existant problem of low light) to getting the whole bird in the frame.
Most of the time ended getting mug shots like this. With their colorful combs the fowl sometimes look Regal...
