These are very similar to the flowers on which the Goldfinches were feasting in Jubbal, Himachal Pradesh, I shot in May this year. Wild flowers in the edge of village about 8,000 ft.

They look like a variety of thistle or nettle - very bedraggled, probably frost or rain-damaged, and no proper leaves visible, hence can't really tell which.
