[BirdPhotoIndia] Ch-b S-gr-1

 Hi,
Naliya Grassland in Greater Rann of Kutch,India is a magical place and the abode of many beautiful and endemic species of birds, mammals and lizards. I have already posted a few images of  different species of birds from Naliya. Today,I want to post some images again, specially of beautiful Chestnut-bellied Sandgrouses from Greater Rann, both Banni and Naliya. To me they seemed to be the perfect symbol of peace, love and harmony. There were nearly forty to fifty of them sitting around at Naliya, half hidden by the golden grass making a perfect frame. These pretty birds were mostly basking in the sun or enjoying a morning siesta probably after an early breakfast. One moment they were looking at the passing vehicle with their eyes half open and the next moment, their heads drooped down towards their chests as they dozed off. They were never at hurry or quarrelling with each other but still there is a sad part in their life. I shall tell you that story tomorrow.Shot at GRK on 25th Dec2010.
Thanks,
Maitreyee
