(delhibirdpix) Whistling Schoolboy

Hi
The Himalayan Blue Whistling thrush sometimes called the "whistling schoolboy" was spotted several times during our recent Lava birding trip, but the bird was very shy. It was quite difficult to get decent shots of this extremely restless bird. It darted into the thickets and ravines at the slightest disturbance. And it was equally challenging to capture the shining blue plumage of this handsome bird...which otherwise appears black in low light. This individual seemed to be bolder and the light was pefect too....This shot was taken from the car on the way to Lava.
Date: 15th April, 2011
