(delhibirdpix) Birding at CKBS today....

Hi
visited CKBS today to spend the unexpected holiday. There was not a single visitor in the sanctuary today, probably becoz of the Election result declaration...and today CKBS was raining birds inspite of the extreme heat.
Last Sunday, I and my birder friend Mr.Debarshi were very much disappointed to get almost no birds in the park, as the place was teeming with people. (about 20 nature photographers from some NGO were waiting near the office to watch the birds as they wud come to take bath...but the birds naturally didnt turn up).
Today i got most of the birds near the office...the White-eyes kept searching for insects among the foliage of the star-apple tree...the Blue-winged leafbird was found preening itself....a family of  Grey-tits
played hide-n-seek...and strange-looking Orange-headed Thrush ( possibly a leucistic form)came out of the thickets and took bath on the pool for few minutes...till it was chased by a pair of bulbuls. A Bay-backed shrike was spotted in the interiors of the park (cudnt take any snap). Emerald doves were seen once on the main path. Streak-throated Woodpeckers and Greater Flamebacks were also seen...will share the pics soon.

Date: 13th May. 2011
Location: Chintamani Kar Birds Sanctuary, near Kolkata, West Bengal.
Camera: Sony HX1

regards
Shantanu.
