Firstly, thanks to Dr. SP for discovering this wonderful place... the snipes (more than a dozen individuals observed on every trip) are very easy to photograph here.. unfortunately over the last 3 weeks the grass has become overgrown and i imagine that photo ops will be more difficult now.. Was fortunate to observe some spectacular moments of the Snipes courting ??? Starting with the female the pair took a bath first, followed by a vigorous shaking to dry themselves.. This is followed by the female calling repeatedly (a metallic chuk-chuk) and then raising her wings.. vigorously shaking them.. the male then responds with a call and a similar raising of his wings (minus the shaking action of the female).
