An alpine speciality of the Himalayas related to rock-thrushes, these purplish-blue birds form a surreal contrast against the snow (now against the waters of Sela lake). Though common in Sela, it was difficult to shoot these given the early morning foggy weather conditions. This image was purely thanks to modern camera technology. I could barely see -- eyes watering, spectacles and viewfinder fogged -- I just went by the focus beep of the lens seemingly attaining focus on the bird coupled with a very high ISO. Added contrast later using levels in PS to the bleached image. Didn't need to do anything to the blue that cut through the densest fog!
