(delhibirdpix) The Commoners - # 108.06 - Red Munia (Amandava amandava) - 2011-181

Made another enjoyable trip to Dadri Wetlands this morning - primarily to see the Bristled Grassbird. They did not disappoint - Total of 6 (5 Males and 1 Female) Birds located. Males were calling constantly and displaying.

The habitat this year has increased as compared to last year when only two fields had the grass preferred by these birds. Hopefully, there would be a few more females and breeding would take place.

These fields also produced Weavers and Munia and a few other species.

A Tie & Dye Bird - Red Munia - in advance of the Teej Festival celebrated in North India where women will be dressed up in colorful clothes especially in Rajasthan. Not to be seen in the numbers that we used to at OBP or even elsewhere. Such good numbers that each Camera Guy/Gal had a model each.

Cheers.
