Dear All
I am greatly thankful to Dr. Vaibhav, who is well known for bringing out wonderful sightings of fauna in and around Alibaug, near Mumbai, Maharashtra. He reported Great Knots few days before and incidently we had planned a visit to Akshi beach on 19th Nov 2011.
We came across floack of 20+ great knots at beach of Akshi. Great Knots fly to indian coast as well as auatralia coast from their breeding site in Siberia. They cover whooping 10,000+kms for one side journey. Considering radius of earth to be 6400 kms, the circumference of earth is about 20,000 kms. Means, great knots almost cover distance equivalent to 1 full circle around earth in 1 migration...

with best regards n cheers !!
