Have you ever wondered what a first-winter plumage is, or tried
tofigure out if a bird is moulting into or out of breeding
plumage?This talk is about feathers. It covers the architecture of the
wingfrom bones outwards, and goes on to discuss how the plumage we
seeis developed through cycles of moult and wear, and the many
factorsthat affect their growth and appearance.
"Abhijit has spent many years trying to cure his increasing
obsessionwith birds, but has yet to find an effective remedy. By
studying moultcycles, he hopes to one day be able to accurately
determine the age ofa raptor. A very large raptor, preferably with
close-up photographs."
