[BirdPhotoIndia] Lesser and Greater White-fronted Goose

Left - Lesser White-fronted Goose (Anser erythropus, (Linnaeus, 1758))

Right - Greater White-fronted Goose (Anser albifrons, (Scopoli, 1769))

A Vulnerable Goose found rarely in Western India. This is probably first record for Gujarat....


We were lucky to sight 1 Lesser and 4 Greater White-fronted Goose in Little Rann of Kutch on 25th Dec. 2013.. with the help of my dear friend Shreeram MV. Who sighted it first and let use know the place. I called him up at midnight 24th and talked abt the birds...and It was sleepless night, called some other friends Kunan Naik, Yagnesh Bhatt, Krinal Kiran Hedau...and we all set to drive whole night to reach the location in time. It was the best Christmas I ever had...First glance with Binocs and bullzeye to Lesser White fronted Goose....
