Dear friends,
Another lifer of this summer. We had been looking for the Hooded Pitta Pitta sordida cucullata for quite some years in the forests of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, where it is a summer visitor. I have been particularly unlucky with this species in the past, but this year Anupam Mistry and Hirak Sarkar have searched out the whereabouts of this bird which helped me fulfill my wish.
Date: 05 August 2014
Location: Gorumara NP- Chapramari WLS complex, northern West Bengal, India.
Habitat: Moist Mixed Deciduous Forest
Behaviour: Feeds on forest floor, low flight, perches on lower-middle storey
