[BirdPhotoIndia] Re: [OBPix] Baby's Day Out 2 (Hume's Groundpecker)

Thanks, Navjit. That will be some addition to my knowledge.
All marmot holes I saw during the visit (my first to Ladakh) were 'down' into the ground. This particular hole was a sidewise entry into a small ( & what looked like a standalone) mound. But then again, I may not have carefully observed. Also it got dark soon and also we did not want to hang around a nest site for obvious reasons.
Here is the uncropped image of the hole.
Posting to the groups for general interest.
cheers

This baby did everything from hopping around, to gaping at the camera, to sitting still except what her parent wanted her to do - to get into the nest. In the end, the mother almost pushed her in.
Thanks to Adesh Shivkar for identifying it even in the fast fading, near dark light.
All images taken from the jeep. No flash used.
