(delhibirdpix) The Commoners - # 44.108 - Sarus Crane (Grus antigone) - 2014-294

The newly found Wetland is most probably going to rock the coming season despite
very limited rain.

Mentioned in my last message that two new nests were being built.  Did not find any
progress this evening.  There was no Sarus any where near a complete nest and
the pair that exhibited the typical nest making process too was not there.  Two Nests
were active with eggs yet to hatch.  Did not go to see the third.

The locals' information that Sarus assembled in large numbers at the Wetland
at dusk, proved absolutely correct.  Found more that fifty as per count all those present
and did recite number 1 to 44 as I counted one flock that I was trying to capture via Video.

Video soon.

Here is a landscape shot of at least 33 Sarus Cranes Roosting.

An absolutely delightful evening.

From Kherli-Hafijpur area (50 KMs SSE of Delhi), Greater Noida, U.P., India
on 16th September 2014.

Enjoy.
