(delhibirdpix) The Migratory Non- Passerines - # 17.00 - Northern Lapwing (Vanellus vaneluss) - 2014-376

Northern Lapwing is another bird with high luminance and iridescence
and hence it makes for for great viewing and that much more difficult to
capture on camera in it full glory.

Been waiting for a real long time - in fact, I think it is only the second time
I am sharing an image.

This morning was great to receive a call from Vikas that a pair was present
at our newly found Wetland at Dhanauri Kalan - rushed, the easy route was
blocked with a broken bridge and then the dirt road was a bit difficult to traverse
yet we made it.

Then the pair was there in its full glory - do not know if I have done justice to
the beauty of the bird.

Here are a couple of images from Dhanauri Kalan, (50 KMs SSE of Delhi),
Grater Noida, U.P.,India on 30th November 2014

Is it a connection or a co-incidence that I would run the vehicle in to a ditch/drain
every time I have an opportunity to look at this bird from reasonable close  distance.
It happened last year and it happened today.  Anyway, help was there.  Many thanks
to Wing Co., Vikas, Rajiv Ranjan, Sarkar, Kavi and in particular to Yogesh who did
a lot of  the hard work.

Cheers.
